Gary Don “Crook” Whitehead, 73, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2020 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Gary Don was born March 9, 1947, in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee to Dellos and Alma Jean (Walls) Whitehead. He was of the Methodist faith. Gary Don proudly served his country in the US Army for two years during the Vietnam War and later retired after 30 years with the Army National Guard. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, mechanic work, working on engines of any type and animals.
Survivors include his girlfriend of many years Margaret Peel of the home; three sisters, Linda Whitehead of Lodi, and Rachel Helton and Betty Whitehead of Poplar Bluff; a brother Larry Whitehead of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.
Gary Don was preceded in death by his parents, his son, business partner and best friend Shannon Don Whitehead, and a brother Barry Whitehead.
In accordance to Gary Don’s wishes, he will be cremated. A private family service will be held at a later date.
