Charles LeRoy Vert, 81, of Wappapello passed away Saturday, September 26, 2020 at his residence to join his wife Shelby Jean in heaven.
LeRoy was born April 17, 1939, in Poplar Bluff. He previously worked as a factory worker and home builder. He enjoyed playing games, solving mind games and puzzles and playing the harmonica and other musical instruments. LeRoy loved being with his family and being outdoors. One of the most important things about LeRoy was that he was friendly to everyone who walked by him and was always giving to anyone in need, never expecting anything in return. He will be greatly missed.
On June 5, 1969, he married the love of his life Shelby Jean Crews. She preceded him in death on February 7, 2008.
Survivors include three daughters, Angela Von Kleiva and husband Al of Romeoville, Illinois, Pamela Ann Fordyce and husband Paul of Highlands, Indiana and Crystal LaVon Boerner of Hammond, Indiana; a son Charles LeRoy Vert, Jr. of Hammond, Indiana; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Easter Miller and Dorothy Marie Foster.
The visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel, with his grandson Pastor Timothy Fordyce officiating. Burial will be at Kinsey Cemetery in Butler County.
Face masks and social distancing are required.
