Brandon McVey

September 30, 1930 ~ January 13, 2021 (age 90)

Obituary

Brandon McVey, 90, of Poplar Bluff passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at his home.

Brandon was born September 10, 1930 in Evansville, IN to Kenneth and Wanda Brandon McVey.  They preceded him in death.

Brandon was a retired businessman and teacher in Poplar Bluff.  He lived 89 of his 90 years in Butler County and had planned to live there until he was 100 years old, but a heart attack changed those plans when God took him to his new home in Heaven.

Brandon and his wife, Rita, attended Temple Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff.

Brandon always said he most definitely did not want a long obituary.  The family would like to share with you all the good things he did for us and others but that was not Brandon’s preference. He said those who knew him already knew what he had tried to accomplish, both the good and the bad and those who did not know him, then it would not matter.

Brandon is survived by his wife Rita; his son, Dr. Kenneth (Kimberly) McVey of Poplar Bluff; his grandson, Ryan (Kelsie) McVey of Poplar Bluff; a sister, Janice McVey of Clarksville, AR; and his extended family of stepchildren, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Lisa Rousan of Poplar Bluff, Mark (Jessie) Miller and Emma of Murfreesboro, TN, James (Karen) Rousan and Kayla, Justin (Rachel) Rousan and Ameliea, Carson and Avery, all of Poplar Bluff, and Jeremy Rousan of Farmington.

A family graveside service will be held Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Memorial Garden Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Patterson of Temple Baptist Church officiating.

Please take a moment to remember Brandon, because if he ever knew you in later years, he might have forgotten your name but he never forgot you and wished you God’s blessings.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Louis Shriner’s Hospital for Children or the Poplar Bluff Chapter of Heavenly Beds for Children.
