Randy
& Lorrie Schulz
Co-Owners
Randy was born in northeastern Nebraska; graduated from Pierce High
School in 1970. He attended Norfolk Junior College in Norfolk,
Nebraska. While attending Junior College he began his career in
funeral service by helping the funeral director in his hometown.
Randy graduated from California College of Mortuary Science, in Los
Angeles, California in 1974. Following his graduation from Mortuary
College, he returned to Nebraska working for two funeral homes. In
1977, he began a second career in funeral service, working for
Mastercraft Casket Company as a sales representative. He traveled
the western half of Iowa, calling on Omaha and Lincoln accounts. In
1979, he joined the staff of Walker-Merrick Funeral Home, in
Clarinda, Iowa. In 1981, he became a partner in that business. Also
that year Randy and Tom Merrick bought the Wolfe Funeral Home in
Villisca, Iowa. His affiliation with the Barr-Merrick Funeral
Chapel began when he joined the Walker-Merrick Firm. Randy is a
licensed funeral director and embalmer in four states: Nebraska,
Iowa ,Missouri and Arkansas. After 27 years of funeral service in
Clarinda, Randy and his wife Lorrie joined Cotrell Funeral Service
as co-owners in August of 2006. Randy and Lorrie have two
daughters; Carrie, who works at a perfumery, Firmenich, in New York
City; and Emily, who is a nurse at the University of Colorado
Hospital, in Denver. Randy and Lorrie enjoy golfing, snow skiing
and water activities. |
Bruce Goin
General Manager
Bruce was born and raised in Chaffee, Mo. and graduated from
Chaffee High School in 1973. He was a specialest 5th. class
in the United States Army. After service he attended and
graduated from the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science.In 1981 he
moved to Poplar Bluff and started to work for Cotrell Funeral
Service, and serves as Deputy Coroner of Butler County. Bruce
was President of the Missouri Coroners & Medical Examiners
Association in 2003 and was the first Deputy Coroner to serve as
President. Bruce was the President of the Southeast Missouri
Funeral Director's Association in 1985.Bruce is a member of the
Poplar Bluff Kiwanis Club where he served as President in 1988 and
Lt. Governor in 1989. He is also a member of the Poplar Bluff
Masonic Lodge; a member of the Aad Grotto Lodge and had served as
Monarch; and member of the Three Rivers Shrine Club where he is a
Shriner's clown (BeeGee) and served as club president in 2006. He
received the Shriner of the year award in 2009. He was appointed
Ambassador of the Shrine of Moolah Temple in 2011.
Bruce enjoys spending time with his wife LouEllen, his son
Willie and wife Cari, Step-sons Wayne and wife Melinda Williams,
Tyler and wife Kasey Williams, and step-daughter Stephanie and
husband Charlie Thomas; grandchildren Steven, Brianna, Brittany,
and Whittany; and his niece Mariah. He also enjoys riding his
Harley motorcycle.

Anita Batton
Assistant General Manager
Anita was born in Poplar Bluff and moved to the country in Wayne
County at the age of 6. She graduated from Greenville High School
and attended Southeast Missouri State University for l year. In
l969 she began working for the State Bank and Trust Company later
purchased by Commerce Bank. Anita worked for the bank for 10 years
and was the General Ledger Bookkeeper before the computer age. In
1993 she started to work for Cotrell Funeral Service as
administrative assistant and became a licensed funeral director in
1999 and later Assistant General Manager. Anita enjoys spending
time with her family, especially on Current River where her brother
has a home; flower gardening and is a Master Gardener. Anita
attends the First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. |
Joe Ben
Chapman
Embalmer-Funeral Director
Joe Ben Chapman was born in Poplar Bluff, Mo., and raised in Carter
County. He graduated from Van Buren High School, in 1992 then
attended SMSU, Mizzou and SLCC. He received his degree in Mortuary
Science and was certified by the International Conference of
Funeral Service Examining Board, in 1998. He began his career at
Cotrell Funeral Service, in 1998 as an apprentice, under Bruce Goin
and Larry Cotrell. The Missouri State Board awarded him his Funeral
Director License and Embalmers License, in 1999. Joe Ben has one
son, Ian Carter Chapman. He is very active in many areas of the
community and is an avid outdoorsman as well. He is proud to have
the privilege to serve his community. |
Carol
Boyer
Administrative Assistant
Carol was born and raised in Kosciusko, Mississippi. She attended
Holmes Junior College, Goodman, Miss., Odessa College, Odessa,
Texas and Three Rivers Community College, in Poplar Bluff. A stay
at home mom for many years, she and her family have welcomed into
their home many foster children from ages newborn to 18 years.
Carol and her husband Harold are members of the First Baptist
Church of Poplar Bluff. They have six children and ten
grandchildren. Carol joined Cotrell Funeral Service in 1999 as an
Administrative Assistant. She enjoys being with her family,
reading, being outdoors and helping those in need. |

Keith
Luke
Assistant Funeral Director
Keith was born and raised near Malden, Missouri on the family
farm. After graduating from Malden High School, he majored in
Agri-Business and graduated from Three Rivers Community College in
Poplar Bluff. Keith then became a minister in the General Baptist
denomination and graduated with a Bible degree from Oakland City
University in Oakland City, Indiana. Before coming to Cotrell
Funeral Service in August 2011, he spent 23 years as a pastor.
Keith now attends the Fellowship General Baptist Church in Poplar
Bluff. He enjoys playing golf with his sons Gary and Andy and
spending time with his granddaughter Mercedys and grandson
Caiden.
